This is excellent I have been senior EM, VP and even CTO. Most of the times quite hands off coding. Sometimes dive into POC or solution design. But recently I have been orchestrating loads of code again thanks to LLMs.
I remember reading in the Pragmatic Engineer newsletter that many EMs are quitting to start startups, but I couldn't find the newsletter that mentioned that :)
I have a bit of stories from EMs around me who found better jobs, but nothing juicy :)

Most people agree. What we don't agree on is, how much fewer engineering managers companies will need.
That's an excellent question :)
My bet is that there will be much smaller teams, and less engineers, but not that many less Engineering Managers.
Great post! :)
Now we just need loads of real-life stories that illustrate this perspective :) Do you have some to share?
We can also talk about this on the podcast ;)
